Bersih 3.0

so, after a ‘successful’ version 2.0, we actually had a version 3.0.
i mean, i am not exactly proud to say that i did nothing to fight for a clean election and whatnot.
i just don’t think that i should be fighting blindly for a cause which i am not even sure of.
sure, i do know that bersih 2.0 was about fighting for a clean election for democracy in our beloved country.
but, i have no idea what other causes are they fighting for. in that sense, i do not think it’d be wise to follow blindly and get on the bandwagon without a thought.
nevertheless, it’s not really about version 2.0 here anymore. it’s outdated. way outdated. first thing you see tomorrow morning in the newspapers, it’s bersih 3.0.

again, i do not know what are the hidden agendas they are fighting for, and i am in no mood to be a pawn in other people’s big plans for the future. and so, i did not attend the rally. it’s not that i don’t understand the importance of democracy and clean election and whatnot. but, does demonstration help in any way to get our message across to the thick skulls of the people helming the country? i do not think so. a demonstration is merely another tool for people to create a chaos and under such a chaotic situation, take advantage of it, make use of it and obtain whatever political mileage they could milk out of it. and the mass media is not helping. it’s biased, rendering it unreliable and useless. well, maybe for entertainment purposes.so, my question is, why do we willingly become such a tool for others?

bersih 3.0 or bantah duduk, as the name suggested, it says, to object, sitting. or in other words, it could also be translated as a peaceful objection. in my opinion anyway. but then again, even the organizers said it’s supposed to be a peaceful rally. but in what way is it peaceful when you wreck havoc every where you march? even when the organizers said to disperse, you go on marching to dataran merdeka? your message has been sent, why do you need to go test the patience of the police force? yes, the police force can be rude. but, they should be doing their job. it’s their job to maintain peace. when you are aggressive and try to break into the dataran which is out of bounds, don’t you think the police force should be doing something to stop it? what the hell is the use of our police if they are not doing their job?

have you even seen what kind of behavior the demonstrators are showing? throwing bottles, thrashing the cars, running amok kicking and screaming. chanting slogans like, “undilah bersih!” when bersih is not even a political party! so tell me, what kind of protesters are there yesterday ‘fighting’ for our rights? don’t get me wrong though. there are some out there who’s really, sincerely, want to change the future of our country so to speak. but, you cannot deny that there a few (many, actually…) rotten apples out there.

it’s important for us to have real democracy in this beloved country of ours. however, a demonstration or rally is just a show of feelings or in other words, it’s just a show of temper. nothing could be done out of throwing our tempers. there must be some other legitimate way we can go about this. if only we are united enough to find the way.

love,
natalie
