of banning this and that or whatever else…

i haven’t been reading the newspaper lately. all i’ve done is basically just load thestar.com.my and start reading a few news here and there. not like there is anything that is interesting to me anyway. heck, has the newspaper ever been interesting to me? i don’t know. oh well. not that it matters now. although, it did give me a boost during the period when i needed something to increase my knowledge. nevertheless, i’ve been lazy and i haven’t really been caring or taking notice of a lot of things. i just don’t give a damn to a lot of things nowadays and yes, that includes yours truly. never mind about that. it’s not the purpose of this post. i will talk about it some other time when i feel like it or maybe not. it depends on my mood. a lot of things do.

anyway, i was only lurking around on the internet when i saw something that catches my attention. people who know me and reads the newspaper would most probably have a pretty wild guess what i am going to talk about. either way, it’s not like anyone could have guessed it correctly. and, i don’t have anything to give for the one who could have gotten it right. whatever it is, this is what that has gotten my attention: puteri wants ban on horror, fantasy movies.

it’s pretty intriguing to me how politicians will go the extra mile to win over the people. i mean, yes, it is a double edged sword. or at least i think it is. the older folks, those who thinks that a person’s faith can be easily shaken by some exterior factors will most probably rejoice and claim that they will support barisan nasional for highlighting something that they think should have been done ages ago. on the other hand, there would be the younger generation who thinks that their faith is something which is in their control and no other exterior factors could have dent their determination or faith. besides that, there will be a minority of us that would go, “look, there they go again. how foolish of them to talk of such things. what? they think that these people who go to watch all these movies for fun are faithless or stupid and easily brainwashed? what the hell are they thinking?”. you get the drift.
but, really. who are they kidding? I mean, is it really that easy to sway someone from what they believe in? afterall, if they do understand and believe in their own religion, they should know what can be done, what is their belief, what is right and what is wrong according to their religion and understanding of it. watching some movie which usually lasts about an hour or two can’t change a person’s mind that easily. it won’t cause a person to stop having faith in their own religion and whatever god they worship.

having faith is about your own determination. a person’s determination cannot be underestimated. having faith in ourselves. having faith in others. having faith in your religion. just because you need political mileage doesn’t mean that you have to make yourself a laughing stock of the everyone by saying something ridiculous over and over again. think before making a statement.

love,
natalie
